DiRT Rally Disable controller steering delay

DiRT Rally Disable controller steering delay

How to disable annoying steering delay/smoothing when using a controller.

Disable controller steering delay

When playing with a controller, DiRT Rally will smooth your steering input. This could be avoided using the following hack.

Edit the config file

  1. Navigate to your DiRT rally install folder
  2. Go to ‘share’ folder and open the file ‘inputdevices.json’ with a text editor
  3. Search end replace every ‘”Gamepad”‘ to ‘”Wheel”‘

Finish configuration

Now, all gamepads will be recognized by the game as racing wheels, and no smoothing will be applied to them.

You’ll need to reconfigure your controls. I personally had to decrease steering linearity to avoid janky input. Good luck and have fun!
